The Race Calendar Finale

The race calendar sets out the dates of all the races for the season.

More race information is available from Australian Cross Country Skiing

The Kosciusko Tour, sometimes called the Kosci Tour or the KT, is a classic point to point cross-country ski race that is run by the Canberra Cross-Country Ski Club. It is scheduled for 10:00am on Sunday 5 September.

KT Entry Form

Tour Race

The KT is a citizens' tour, like a fun run on skis. As it is a tour race, racers do not call 'track', instead they go around slower skiers. The age range is broad and the race has a party atmosphere. As it's the last race of the ski season, some racers celebrate by dressing up.

A few words from Ian Hampel
(our oldest and most frequent entrant)

"Maybe you are Olympic material, maybe not, but you are welcome to join us in an event in the most beautiful terrain in Australia.

You don't need tremendous strength, ability or endurance, but you do need (like the rest of us) enthusiasm and love of the grandeur of our Alpine areas.

Yes, join us in early September in a classic 'race' across the roof of Australia from Thredbo to Perisher. Let the skis do the work while you just go along for the ride.

Age limits ... Well, the youngest are fourteen and the oldest eighty five!!!

Then be with us as we have a 'postmortem' and a feed at The Man From Snowy River after the event. Have you got a reasonable excuse not to be in it? I doubt it."

Route

Tourers are transported from Bullocks Flat to Thredbo where they take the chairlift up to Crackenback. The timetable gives the details. The track follows the Kosciusko Summit Road through Charlotte Pass to Perisher, a distance of no more than 18km. It takes between half an hour and three hours, depending on skill and fitness level.

At Perisher, food is served at the Man from Snowy River while the participants' times are calculated. There are spot prizes as well as place prizes.

The cost of transport by bus, and the cost of the Park Entry fee and the chairlift, are included in the race entry fee race entry fee.
