Come Ski With Us

Are you tired of crowded ski slopes? Do you want to ski for months before the resorts open and after they close? Are you a bushwalker who would like to explore the mountains in winter? Are you a runner or skater who would like to try racing on snow?

If you want to make first tracks down that snow covered mountain that you can see from the lookout but could never reach, or glide or skate through the trees, or snowcamp for a weekend or a week in a winter wonderland, you should leave the ski lifts behind and embark on a Cross-Country skiing adventure.

Cross-Country skiing can be a leisurely tour on a track or in the backcountry, and it can an adrenaline-pumping, heart-pounding sport when citizen racing or descending a mountain by telemark or alpine techniques.

Canberra Cross Country Ski Club (CCCSC) can help.

More information on Cross-Country skiing can be found on this website and its links, and on

Working Parties

Here is the perfect antidote to holidays that might have left you in need of fresh air and exercise! Join us on the Perisher XC trails in the first weekend of the month, all through Summer and Autumn. There will be the usual work on the trails to start getting them ready for winter – pole repair, rock removal and vegetation control. Bring good boots, gloves, hats, clothing for changes of weather and be prepared for the flies. A group may also be working in the Nordic Shelter.

The Canberra Alpine Club is generously providing accommodation on Friday and Saturday night. Bring sheets, towels and food / drink.

Please pencil in XC work party weekends throughout the Summer & Autumn:

Perisher XC work parties are social, productive and give workers a great appreciation of what is under that beautiful snow on the tracks. We look forward to seeing a good chunk of the cross country community at this and other work parties over the summer.

If you plan to attend, send an e-mail to Peter Ward so that he can organise numbers.

If you want accommodation in the Canberra Alpine Club, send an e-mail to Peter Cunningham so that he can organize beds.
